Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son works at the European Parliament

(Dan Tri) – Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son had an important meeting with President of the European Parliament (EP) David Sassoli on the afternoon of February 11.

EP President David Sassoli expressed his impression of Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development and international integration;

President Sassoli affirmed that he and many parliamentarians personally support the EP’s ratification of the EVFTA and EVIPA agreements, expressing appreciation for the close and effective coordination of the National Assembly, the Government and Vietnamese agencies.

During the working trip from February 4 to 12, Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son’s Special Envoy also had many important meetings with EP Vice President Pedro Silva Pereira, Chairman of the International Trade Commission.

INTA President Bernd Lange and many parliamentarians said that the positive voting results on EVFTA and EVIPA at INTA on January 21, 2020 reflected the support of many EP parliamentarians for the two agreements, emphasizing the initiative.

Regarding the ratification schedule, the EP has set a voting schedule to ratify the EVFTA and EVIPA agreements on February 12, 2020, according to which EVFTA will be the first new generation free trade agreement to be considered by the new EP.
