On the afternoon of July 31, at the online meeting of the National Steering Committee for the 2020 High School Graduation Exam organized by the Ministry of Education and Training on the afternoon of July 31, Mr. Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of Hanoi, said that it had been implemented.

In the face of Covid-19 developments, Mr. Quy wants the Ministry to provide more specific instructions to ensure the safety of candidates, for example, the exam room needs to be disinfected and have hand sanitizer;

Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, spoke at the meeting with the Ministry of Education and Training on the afternoon of July 31.

Ho Chi Minh City, which has 115 testing locations with more than 3,100 testing rooms, has also prepared all conditions for organizing the high school graduation exam.

Ho Chi Minh City allows members participating in the exam copy printing process to take samples for testing to ensure they do not have Covid-19 and are in good health when entering the quarantine area to print copies, without affecting this step.

However, Mr. Duc was still concerned that the city’s 600 essay exam examiners had to gather in one place to grade the exam.

From Hai Phong, Vice President Le Khac Nam said that with nearly 18,600 candidates taking the exam at 41 test locations, the city has arranged 14 additional backup test locations.

Similar to Ho Chi Minh City, teachers working on exam questions were quickly tested to ensure they were not infected with Covid-19.

In Quang Ninh, each test site has two spare rooms.

Regarding the exam team, Quang Ninh has carefully reviewed and even asked the provincial police to evaluate the participants.

Despite very careful preparation, Mr. Hau said Quang Ninh still had to concentrate as much as possible because it had to both fight Covid-19 and organize the exam.

Mr. Le Hai Hoa, Vice Chairman of Cao Bang province, said that despite good preparation for the exam, the province’s exam steering committee still has some concerns.

This leads to worries about ensuring safety in the process of securing exam questions because currently the process of printing copies of exam questions has been partially completed, the exam papers have been sealed in each exam room with 24 exam questions per bag.

Mr. Hoa added that the province also does not clearly understand the regulations to what extent candidates with symptoms of cough and fever will be allowed to continue taking the exam and must take the exam in the backup exam room?

Listening to opinions from localities, Director of Quality Management Mai Van Trinh responded to each issue, emphasizing physical distancing, preparing exam rooms, and backup exam sites to ensure safety against Covid-19.

Director of Quality Management Mai Van Trinh resolved local problems at a meeting on the afternoon of July 31.

According to regulations, each exam room has 24 candidates, sitting at a distance of 1.2 m.

In case it is necessary to create new test points in areas with F1 and F2, Mr. Trinh suggested that the provinces immediately notify the Ministry of Education and Training to prepare technically, create registration numbers and test rooms.

However, the Director of Quality Management also noted that exam scores need attention when there are candidates in groups F1 and F2 because the work of these students can also be a source of infection.

With Ho Chi Minh City’s concern about having essay exam examiners concentrated in one place, Mr. Trinh said that in the current complicated Covid-19 context, the Ministry can accept the usual plan of dividing into

Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha highly appreciated the preparation of localities.

The high school graduation exam takes place from August 8 to 10.

By the evening of July 31, the total number of Covid-19 infections nationwide had reached 546, of which 373 people had recovered, two people died, and 171 patients were still being treated.
