Room is adapted from the novel of the same name by writer Emma Donoghue, inspired by the true case of a woman named Josef Fritzl who was imprisoned and raped by her father for 24 years.

The film opens with a rotating skylight in the middle of the frame.

Every week, a man brings food, medicine and household items to provide.

Until Jack was 6 years old.

It’s been a long time since movie lovers have had such a clear and poetic film about the world of children.

Brie Larson (right) is the brightest candidate for the title `Best Actress` at this year’s Oscars.

The film takes the main point of view of Jack – a boy who lived 5 years of his life without once touching a leaf, never meeting a friend, never having a true birthday cake.

The detail that Jack gives a stray mouse a piece of bread and believes that it is a friend can touch the audience.

Viewers may feel sorry for the poor boy in the movie, but not in a dramatic way.

9-year-old child actor – Jacob Tremblay – makes a strong impression as Jack.

That way, viewers will understand part of the reason why Jack and his mother had such difficulty integrating back into the community later.

It is unfortunate that Jacob Tremblay – the soul of the whole film, playing the character Jack – is not present in any Oscar nomination categories, from main actor to supporting actor.

However, being nominated for 4 major categories – `Best Film`, `Best Director`, `Best Actress` and `Best Adapted Screenplay`, Room will likely still win.
