In the April 2020 issue, Slovakia’s Forbes Magazine published an article about Huong, one of the people on the Forbes list under 30 years old in the country.

`I am very grateful to be selected on the Forbes list. I feel motivated to try harder, because my restaurant is still young,` Huong told VnExpress.

Born in Bratislava in 1993, Vu Thao Huong grew up in the village of Ivanka pri Dunaji, about 15 kilometers west of the capital’s center.

As the eldest in a family of four sisters, Huong has helped her parents put business clothes into the warehouse since elementary school.

`The discrimination of the people around me at that time made me tell myself to study well and work hard to prove that Vietnamese people can rise up,` Huong shared.

She participated in many regional math competitions for high school students and won third prizes.

During her 5 years of working, Huong always remembered her dream of opening her own restaurant.

The unexpected attractiveness of Vietnamese dishes at the Grape festival made Huong determined to open her own restaurant.

`We opened our first restaurant at Bory Commercial Center at the end of 2017, three months after the test,` Huong said excitedly.

A basic factor that helps her pho attract diners, according to Huong, is the fragrant and naturally sweet broth because the bones are simmered for up to 10 hours.

While Thang Tran takes care of the menu, Huong is responsible for general management.

`Every day I smile, no longer worried about my differences. That difference is bringing us success,` Huong said.

The Pho restaurant chain also helped Huong realize that she inherited many strengths from her parents, which are working hard and sticking to her family.

Huong’s excitement for her first restaurant suddenly encountered a `Covid-19 storm` in early 2020. When Europe became the epicenter of the epidemic, Slovakia and a series of countries had to impose a blockade to stop the virus.

Jozef cannot forget the first time the two met in 2012, when they went to a party at a bar.

In the near future, Huong wants to open another store in a strategic location to ensure business efficiency after the pandemic.

`I want Pho to become not only the biggest chain, but also the most reliable partner in the restaurant industry in Central Europe,` Huong said.
