On March 31, the US and Mexico were the 28th and 29th teams to participate in the World Cup, along with the 27 teams that had previously won spots.

The 2022 World Cup Al Rihla ball, which means journey, is inspired by the architecture, iconic boats and the Qatari flag, in Doha.

Of the three remaining spots, there are two intercontinental qualifying spots, and one from Europe, both taking place in June. The non-European play-offs all take place in Qatar, with Costa Rica playing New Zealand.

In Europe, Wales will compete for a place with the winner of the match between Scotland and Ukraine.

The list of seeding groups is arranged completely according to the FIFA table on March 31, 2022, and the host Qatar is in group 1 by default.

Seed groups

Group 1: Qatar, Brazil, Belgium, France, Argentina, England, Spain, Portugal

Group 2: Mexico, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Uruguay, Switzerland, USA, Croatia

Group 3: Senegal, Iran, Japan, Morocco, Serbia, Poland, South Korea, Tunisia

Group 4: Cameroon, Canada, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Wales/Scotland/Ukraine, Costa Rica/New Zealand, Peru/UAE/Australia

According to the rules of the draw, teams in the same seed group, or the same federation, will not be in the same group.

The draw will start from group 1, in which host Qatar is guaranteed a place in group A and will play the opening match.

Computers will help FIFA to avoid conflicts regarding draw rules.

Because Germany and the Netherlands fall into group 2, the 2022 World Cup may have a group of death, such as Brazil, Germany, Senegal and Canada.

Normally after the draw ceremony, the World Cup match schedule will be announced.

Teams are divided into eight groups of four teams each, playing in a round-robin from November 21 to December 2.
